The Factory Automation & Test Development team, as part of our Manufacturing & Engineering department, develops and maintains advanced production and test systems used in our production facility. To be able to deliver a high mix of different (electro-mechanical) products in an efficient way, we focus on scalability and reusability of our systems. Our team consists of development engineers from different disciplines, like mechatronics, mechanical, electronics and software.
Scope of the role:
As a Systems Architect within the Factory Automation & Test Development team, you play a crucial role in designing and overseeing the development of customized systems that are used for the manufacturing or testing of customer products in our high-tech manufacturing environment. In this role, you collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, design, and implement innovative manufacturing & test systems, ensuring they meet the performance, reliability, efficiency, stakeholder, and project requirements.
You work closely with the Project Manager to align system designs with project goals, timelines, and resource constraints, ensuring successful project delivery and stakeholder satisfaction.
You will mentor and provide guidance to the development engineers, helping them in problem-solving and in understanding best practices in electronics, testing, automation, and quality assurance.
Using your knowledge, experience, and technical leadership skills, you have a strong contribution to innovation, improvements in the way of working, and standardization within the Factory Automation & Test Development group.
Key Responsibilities:
Translate high-level stakeholder requirements into project work breakdown structures and subsystem designs.
Integrate electronic, software, and mechanical subsystems into cohesive, safe, efficient and reliable manufacturing & test solutions.
Oversee system design, validation, verification, and documentation of manufacturing & test systems and tooling.
Develop test strategies and ensure alignment with product development, customer expectations, and manufacturing & testing specifications.
Apply Design for Testing and Manufacturing principles to customer products that will be tested or manufactured using our systems.
Guide development engineers on investigating issues and safeguard the manufacturing & test philosophy of AME in the chosen solution direction.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Provide technical leadership and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Support sales by identifying stakeholder needs, conducting feasibility studies, and providing technical risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
Job requirements
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering / Mechatronics, with Electronics specialization.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in electronics development, experience in developing test equipment in an industrial production environment is a pre.
Proven record of taking technical leadership from ideation to completion.
System-level thinker capable of understanding complex interactions within integrated systems, proven track record in overseeing the hardware, software, and mechanical disciplines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive and solution-driven approach.
Strong understanding of developing equipment for industrial environments, with knowledge of reliability, reproducibility, maintainability, and safety requirements.
Expertise in test strategies, risk analysis, and compliance, with hands-on experience using test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, etc.).
Familiarity with industry standards and protocols for hardware testing.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a decisive and detail-oriented mindset.
