Scope of the role:
As a Senior-Tactical Buyer you will fulfill a crucial role in supply chain management and procurement, focusing on the day-to-day purchasing activities required to support AME’s organization’s operational needs.
This position involves managing the procurement of goods and services while ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality and timely delivery.
You will be responsible for executing the purchasing strategy of the organization by managing the procurement process for assigned categories of goods and services. This position works closely with suppliers, internal stakeholders like R&D, Supply Chain Planning, Operations, Logistics etc. and the broader procurement team to ensure that purchasing activities align with the company’s operational goals and budgetary constraints.
You will report to the Purchasing Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
· Procurement Operations: Execute procurement transactions, including sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
· Supplier Management: Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, managing performance and addressing any issues related to delivery, quality and pricing.
· Market Research: Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers, analyze pricing trends, and assess market conditions to inform procurement strategies.
· Inventory Management: Collaborate with the supply chain / inventory management team to maintain optimal stock levels (aligned with needed service levels and inventory liability agreements) and ensure timely replenishment of goods.
· Cost Analysis: Analyze cost structures and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements through strategic purchasing decisions.
· Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including Quality Management, R&D, Supply Chain Planning, Inventory Control, Operations, Finance, and Logistics, to understand procurement needs and coordinate supply chain activities.
· Purchase Orders: Create, issue, and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
· Reporting: Generate procurement reports and analyze data to track spending patterns, supplier performance, and compliance with purchasing policies.
· Problem Solving: Address any issues related to supply chain disruptions, quality concerns, or vendor disputes in a timely manner.
· Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the development and improvement of procurement processes and systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Job requirements
Required Skills and Qualifications:
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
· Experience: 4-7 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, preferably in a tactical buying role.
· Technical Skills: Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems (SAP is preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
· Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
· Negotiation Skills: Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to build strong relationships with suppliers.
· Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly articulate needs and collaborate with various stakeholders.
· Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively to meet tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Certifications: Procurement or supply chain certifications (e.g., Nevi 1, Nevi 2, C.P.M., C.P.S.M., APICS) are a plus.
· Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with electronic and/or mechanical manufacturing industry-specific standards and requirements related to purchasing.
Work Environment:
This position typically operates in an office setting (AME Eindhoven) but may require occasional travel to supplier sites or industry events.
