Hardware Engineer
- Eindhoven, Netherlands
- RD&D
Job description
At AME, part of the Metis Group, we develop and manufacture high-quality electronic products for customers in the energy, climate control and industrial sectors. Based in Brainport Eindhoven, we combine expertise in electronics, mechanics, software and industrial engineering to turn complex ideas into reliable products, with support throughout the product lifecycle.
As a Hardware Engineer at AME, you take ownership of electronic hardware development and validation within multidisciplinary projects. Your work ranges from designing circuits and selecting components to reviewing PCB layouts, validating designs and resolving technical issues. With development and manufacturing under one roof, you can follow your designs through to production and see the results of your work.
You bring more than technical expertise. You anticipate dependencies, organize reviews and tests, and follow up on actions. You keep colleagues informed, meet agreed deadlines and raise risks early enough for the team to act.
Key responsibilities
Translate technical requirements into electronic circuit designs, component selections and detailed schematics.
Collaborate with mechanical, software and industrial engineers to develop integrated, manufacturable products.
Provide input for PCB layout and review layouts for functionality, manufacturability, signal integrity and EMC performance.
Apply analysis and simulation to assess design performance, quality and reliability.
Develop and execute validation plans, document results and resolve findings.
Prepare and support EMC and environmental testing, working with colleagues and external test laboratories as needed.
Contribute to product compliance by addressing relevant standards in your designs and verification activities.
Troubleshoot design and production issues, identify root causes and implement robust solutions.
Coordinate design reviews, test preparations and technical follow-up within your scope of work.
Plan your activities, follow through on commitments and communicate clearly about progress, dependencies and potential delays.
Job requirements
Who are you?
You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
You have at least five years of relevant experience in electronic hardware development.
You have experience with schematic design and circuit simulation tools; familiarity with Altium and LTspice is preferred.
You combine hands-on engineering skills with an understanding of broader system requirements and manufacturing considerations.
You demonstrate ownership: you identify what needs to happen, take initiative and see actions through to completion.
You organize your work independently and involve the right colleagues when decisions or dependencies require alignment.
You communicate clearly and work effectively across disciplines.
Experience working in an Agile environment, particularly with Scrum, is a plus.
You are fluent in English; Dutch is a plus.
Why join AME?
Work on electronic products for the energy, climate control and industrial sectors.
Follow your designs from development and validation through to manufacturing.
Collaborate with skilled, international colleagues across engineering disciplines.
Work in an open environment with short communication lines, where initiative and ownership are encouraged.
Develop your technical expertise and grow professionally.
Contribute ideas and make a tangible impact on our products.
